Construction on Falls Road near the intersection of Falls and Northern Parkway is causing some clients significant delays in reaching my office.

Depending upon where you are coming from, please consider alternative routes that can save you alot of time:

FROM THE I-695 BELTWAY:

1. Take the Greenspring Avenue exit, EXIT 22.

2. Keep left to take the Greenspring Avenue South ramp.

3. Turn left onto Greenspring Ave. Go 1.4 miles.

4. Turn left onto Smith Ave. Go 1.9 miles

5. Turn right onto Greely Rd.

• Greely Rd is just after  Shrine Sacred Heart Middle School and Catholic Church on the right

6. Turn left onto Sulgrave Ave.

7. Take the 1st left onto Newbury St.

8. 5710 NEWBURY ST is on the left.

FROM THE ROLAND PARK & HAMPDEN AREAS:

To get to Kelly Avenue in order to cross I-83 and enter Mt. Washington Village, you want to go south on Falls Road so you can turn RIGHT on Kelly Avenue.

Baltimore’s new currency — the BNote — has officially launched!  To help celebrate the launch and to get more BNotes into circulation I will be running the following promotion through the end of June 2011:

If your payment to me for a counseling session includes at least $20 worth of BNotes, I will give you $5 off the cost of that session (US$5 or BN$5).

If you request change back from  me in BNotes instead of US Dollars, I will give you an extra BN$5 in change over and above what I owe you.

It would be useful to me to hear back from clients and potential clients as to whether or not you are likely to want change in BNotes so I have some idea what sort of BNote supply to keep handy.

There is a 12-hour mental health first aid class being held April 13th, 20th, 27th, and May 4th in Columbia, MD for $50.  This is a nationally deployed and well-known course to help you recognize symptoms and know how to respond.  A good idea for the general public.  The public is taught CPR and First Aid — this is the mental health version.

This is a mental health blog, not a currency blog, but I do want to take a moment to post about the great potluck I went to last night with members of the Baltimore Currency Association.

Several good ideas got discussed in the brainstorming session, including a possible future debit card system.

The comment that really struck me was about the symbolic value of a dollar.  That is, every time someone holds a Baltimore currency note in their hands, they will be reminded of 1) civic pride in their neighborhood and/or city, 2) the value of their neighbors, and 3) to shop locally.  Reminds me very much of some of the NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) work I sometimes do — especially with the NLP concept of anchoring.  In any case, what a great way to maintain continual awareness of important values!

They are looking at a possible time-line (still flexible) of starting to sell BNotes after their fundraising is complete March 11th, launching the currency April 16th at an Eco event in Druid Hill Park, and following that up with a block party with the Baltimore Free Farm April 17th.

Their were several very good brochures last night — brochures I am not sure are on the main website.  I am attaching below color scans of the brochures.  They are quick, concise, and well-done pieces on what the BNote is about.  Please download them.
